Super middleweight Shane Mosley Jr (1-0) won his pro debut with a first round KO over Mark Cordova (0-2) on Saturday night at the Oceanview Pavilion in Port Hueneme, California. A body shot from Mosley put Cordova on the deck just 34 seconds into the fight.
In the main event, unbeaten welterweight Jose “Chon” Zepeda (19-0, 16 KOs) scored a one-sided eight round unanimous decision over veteran “Red Hot” Robert Frankel (32-15-1, 6 KOs). Zepeda dropped Frankel in round three and went on to win by scores of 80-71 on all cards.
Unbeaten super featherweight Saul Rodriguez (13-0-1, 10 KOs) scored a brutal and spectacular fourth round KO over Miguel Zamudio (29-4-1, 16 KOs). A furious Rodriguez barrage laid out Zamudio at 1:09 of the fourth.
Unbeaten light heavyweight Trevor McCumby (15-0, 12 KOs) scores a first round annihilation of Rafael Valenzuela (8-3, 1 KO).
Unbeaten lightweight Erick De Leon (7-0, 3 KOs) stopped Jose Gomez (3-7, 3 KOs) at 2:58 of round one.
Super-lightweight Raul Tovar (13-8-1, 4 KOs) of Mission, Tex., rallied in the final three rounds to pull out a 6-round split decision over Herbert Acevedo (11-2, 6 KOs) of Garden City, Kan., who trains at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy, in a swing bout. Two of the judges had Tovar winning, 58-56, while the third judge it 58-56 for Acevedo.
Featherweight Erik Ruiz (12-1, 6 KOs) of Oxnard, Calif., dropped Brandon Gushiken (1-2, 1 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico, twice in the second round before the fight was stopped at 2:20 of the second round in a swing bout.
